APEX: Think Again

APEX is for learners who refuse to settle
APEX — Applied Practical Experience — is a learning model built for the way the world actually works. It’s a shared approach to education that connects what students learn in school with the work, challenges, and possibilities waiting for them beyond graduation.
Active Learning
Students build skills and cultivate experiences by doing. Projects are hands-on, real-world and tied to growing industries and technologies. APEX develops capabilities, not just comprehension — it helps students graduate with clarity, not uncertainty.
Connected Purpose
APEX links students to career paths through partnerships with local employers, mentors, organizations, and community leaders. Every experience adds to what they’re already learning and turns lessons into outcomes. Students don’t just study challenges — they solve them. APEX projects are grounded in actual community and industry needs.
Community-Driven
APEX is a model rooted in Sumner County, with the potential to branch throughout the region and the United States. It’s a model that belongs to the community and to the businesses, nonprofits, educators, and students it nourishes. APEX helps them strengthen their sense of community belonging as they develop a sense of responsibility, ownership and civic connection.
Setting Students Up For Success
APEX helps connect students to real-world job opportunities that they feel passionate about by giving them the experience, resources, and confidence to be more successful in their future career paths.

What does success look like with APEX?
Success is visible and often tangible: Students who demonstrate real skills, connect with mentors, build professional relationships, and develop a clear sense of direction are the definition of APEX success.
How is APEX different from an internship?
While it may include internship-style experiences, the model encompasses project-based learning, mentorship, community engagement and curricular connection — creating a vital link between school to career.
